Sunshine FM is the Sunshine Coast’s radio station.

We’re also one of the most successful community radio stations in Australia… committed to serving the community we live in.

Thousands of people listen to our big, beautiful stereo signal from Noosa to Caloundra and across The Hinterland.

We play the widest variety of hit music… the music you grew up with and newer tracks that you relate to. No one else on The Coast does what we do.

More music. More memories. More often. And with fewer interruptions.

Our team

104.9 Sunshine FM is brought to you by a dedicated team of people donating their time and expertise to provide the local community with a professional radio service that offers more music, more memories, more often.

Weekday Presenters

Des-Deighton

Des Deighton

Des starts your day in a feel-good kind of way! He plays the best music on The Coast, and presents the latest news and traffic information. He also loves to promote the great work of our local community organisations who do so much for us all, right across The Coast. Des started in radio in 1985 but he also spent much of his working life as a school principal in regional Queensland, including the Longreach School of Distance Education.

Bruce Turnbull

Bruce plays the biggest hits and best artists of all time, in a show packed with great memories and good fun. He’ll keep you up to date with what’s happening on The Coast, all the way through the afternoon. Bruce is a respected broadcaster and radio programmer who has held senior roles with some of the biggest media companies in Australia.

Brian ‘Noddy’ DeCourcy

He’s not here for a long time but he is here for a good time! We’re not too sure where his nickname came from but what we do know is that every weeknight from seven, Noddy takes us back to the best of the Seventies when the hair styles were as big as the music and colourful flares weren’t things you fired off at sea! Noddy emigrated from Liverpool in England in 1972, and worked as a DJ in nightclubs and discos. He loves his soccer and plays for the Buderim Wanderers club. Actually, rumour has it ‘Noddy’ came from the huge number of goals he’s headed into the back of the net.

Bob Mason

Every Thursday night it’s Bob and the Baby Boomers, a show that celebrates the birth of rock’n’roll and tracks it through those formative years into the fabulous Sixties. Some of the best music, ever, from performers who went on to become international icons. Bob used to live in a part of Australia that’s pretty good but a few years ago, he decided to move from the NSW Central Coast to the best place in Australia… the Sunshine Coast. He was a DJ in nightclubs and presenter at one of the Central Coast’s favourite radio stations before joining us at Sunshine FM.

Weekend Presenters

Rebecca Deighton

Rebecca hosts Saturday Breakfast, including our very popular gardening show with Penny Hegarty. She gets your weekend off to the best start and just to be a little bit different, Rebecca also presents Sunshine Country, Wednesdays from 8PM. Rebecca’s love of country music and radio began when she was growing up in Charleville, listening to the local station. Rebecca is an accomplished musician in her own right. She sings, plays guitar, oboe and flute.

Penny Hegarty

Penny hosts one of the most popular shows on Sunshine FM. She has travelled all over Australia and around the world, looking at every kind of garden you can imagine. From glorious fields of colour to lush sub-tropical forest and hardy coastal cover, Penny knows what will work at your place, whether you live on acreage or in a high-rise apartment.

Don Moxham

Keeping the hits coming all the way through Saturday! Don is one of the most respected presenters on Australian radio, working at some of the most influential and successful stations in the country. His broadcasting career began in 1984 at the age of 14! Don loves to share his wonderful music knowledge and genuine connection to The Coast.

Trevor Young

Trevor is another great broadcaster with a long career in Australian radio. He’s settled on the Sunshine Coast and we’re lucky to have him with us on Sunshine FM. He gets the second half of the weekend going with a great mix of songs that will start your Sunday with a gentle nudge before winding things up a bit to get you in the mood for another fabulous day in the best part of Australia.

Ben Powney

Ben takes you on a tour of sensational Sunday music, playing some of the best tracks of all time. Ben moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2002 and his first job here was a beauty: MC at Steve’s Irwin’s fantastic Australia Zoo. A few years later, he got another dream job… Cruise Director with Celebrity Cruises, travelling to more than 70 countries and meeting people from all over the world. Ben also presents Aussies Rule – the best Australian hits ever – Mondays from 8PM.

Tony Hennesy

Tony is one-half of our fabulous Sunday night of jazz on Sunshine FM. He grew up in London and immersed himself in the jazz scene in one of the most exciting cities in the world. He’s been a local since 1970 and every Sunday night, Tony shares his love for jazz… Trad, Dixieland, New Orleans and Gypsy. His selections come from a personal music library of more than 700 CDs.

Jules Verity

Jules follows Tony with her Jazzing Around show every Sunday night. She loves jazz because it encompasses emotions from happy, hip-swaying rhythms to moody, blues-inspired jazz combos. Jules introduction to jazz was the music of Swing Era big bands of the late 1930s and 1940s. It’s a fabulous way to wind down your weekend.
